Summary: Short little one- shot i made at 4 am... when Reese reveals something about Raven he didn't know

Reese and Raven Alone no More

Reese and Raven

Yes, I know it's a stupid title, but I couldn't think of anything else at 4:00 a.m. Not much
of a story, just a short little one- shot I decided to try. Hint of romance but it's not
glaringly apparent.

*Disclaimer: * I don't own Zoids; nothing belongs to me; I claim no ownership of
anything except my plot, which I'm sure has been done many times before but oh well.

Raven sat, his knees hunched up, a portable gas fire burning in front of him. The
Genobreaker and Shadow were a distance away, as respecting Raven's wishes. Raven
smirked at them with every glance he threw their way.

The night was cold, but Raven neither said nor did anything about it. A thin cloak draped
across his shoulders; the fingers of his hands were unprotected. A chill breeze whistled
through the valley where Raven rested, ruffling the dark hair that had given him his
name.

'Perhaps,' thought Raven casually, not caring about what he was thinking, 'if Prozen had
given me a different name, I wouldn't be who I am today. But then how would I have
fun? If my name wasn't Raven, would I give up and let Van defeat me?' He smirked. 'I
have no time for useless thoughts and what ifs.'

"Tomorrow Shadow," Raven said to his Organoid, "tomorrow we defeat Van Flyheight!"

Shadow roared in response and Raven grimaced at the sound. It was pathetic, really, to be
traveling with your best friend who's an Organoid and you hate him anyway. 'As long as
he leads me to victory, I will put up with him for as long as possible,' said Raven to
himself.

So wrapped up was he in his thoughts that his normally keen ears did not fix upon the
sounds of someone walking to him. To be sure, the person walking almost glided on the
ground, almost as if he or she was flying.

The person put a hand on his shoulder. "Raven," they whispered at the same time.

Raven whirled around, inwardly startled, but letting nothing show on his face. "Reese,"
he hissed. "Don't talk to me. I want to be alone."

Reese gave a sad half- smile. "Raven," she whispered, "Raven, you don't have to be
alone anymore."

"I want to." Raven enunciated each syllable clearly, overstressing the words.

"Raven," Reese said again. She seemed to get some sort of sensual pleasure from saying
his name. "Raven, why do you hate so much?"

"It is not necessary to know why," he snapped. "It is only necessary to hate: pure,
untainted, unquestioned hate."

"You feed of it, don't you Raven?" said Reese. "You live off of your own hate for
everyone. It is your only means of survival."

"Shut up! You don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, but I do. And I don't think you hate Van Flyheight either."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I think you're jealous of him. Van the hero, with friends everywhere, victor in every
battle…"

"I- I don't care if I have friends or not!"

"Raven," Reese said softly yet again. She slipped her hand into his. He tensed and was
about to pull away before Reese grabbed tighter hold. "Raven, let me be your friend. Let
me join you. Then we won't be alone ever again." Her voice caressed his ear and Raven
found himself being irresistibly pulled toward Reese.

He did not look at her.

Raven merely clasped Reese's hand with his own.

Okay it's done. So now it's time for me to go and get ready for school. See ya.
